Acquisition of Liquor License

·         There are avarious ways to obtain a liquor license depending on the State and/or local municipality.

·        Purchase/Transfer: If a license must be purchased from a current owner, we complete a search to identify a license in the county/municipality if we do not have one currently available.  We will negotiate the price with the Seller and take all steps necessary to finalize the purchase/transfer.

·        Direct Issue: This allows for the license to be issued directly from the State and/or local municipality without a purchase.  There are  specific requirements an establishment and applicant must meet to obtain a direct issue license which vary on your location. 

·        Lottery:  Some states have an annual lottery which is based on additional licenses issued through an increase in population.  The odds of being chosen for a lottery license depends on the county applied for and number of applicants.  You should not depend on a lottery win if you have specific time lines for starting/opening your business. 

           Possible zoning issues - There could be any number of zoning related issues that must be identified and resolved before approval is granted for an establishment selling and/or service alcohol to operate.  These can include distance restrictions to churches, schools and other license holders.  We can identify zoning restrictions and resolve where applicable.
